Despite a rocky start to the month, I’m determined to publish every planned story, even if a few try to slip through the cracks. With the never-ending thoughts churning through my mind, and the ever growing list of responsibilities, I’m determined to navigate my way through the rest of the month and prevent life from spoiling my creative output. Fortunately, the core concept for this short narrative came to life early in the month, before things went sideways. With the outline already in place, and the calm settling in around me, the drafting flowed quickly. After all, what begins in fire rarely ends in peace.

In a darkened forest lit only by a flickering flame, a wandering individual stricken with a cursed sight must answer his summons. He’d delayed this exchange, because he knows the man on the other end will be reshaping his world. Between their shared bond, the fragile truce with their enemy teeters with oblivion. The quiet of night offers no comfort, simply the rustle of unseen forces preparing to shatter their world.

This is a tale about the weight of perception and the burden of knowing too much. In the stillness between action and hesitation, we’re invited into a moment of reckoning, one that threads the line between memory and myth, duty and destruction. Though few can speak of the past with certainty, there are those who know enough of the echoes to demand attention.

Come, sit down and allow me to give you a mini-escape and kindle your imagination.

“There’s been a shift in the balance of power,” Nilus said, his milky white eyes staring through Ramas.

Ramas’s shoulders slumped. “Aside from Ridley, who has pledged themselves to Emilie?”

Nilus licked his lips as he lifted a trio of fingers. “She’s recruited three more afflicted with the sight. After this consolidation, she promised her people power that can make kingdoms tremble.”
