Radiant Offer

With a new month comes new stories. As the early days marched forward, I opened my plan and reviewed the micro-stories I wanted to tell. I was pleased to see another entry in my Tattoo series waiting for me. Fortunately, not that long ago I sketched out a rough draft of Lucas. While it began as an episodic series, a few entries ago I decided to shape it into a longer arc. The result has been several micro-stories building toward a full flash fiction piece. I’m not ready to conclude the series with that larger work yet, but I’m glad to bring this next chapter to those who support me on Ko-Fi.

Some mornings carry a weight beyond its stillness. The quiet mist, the hush of footsteps, or the first rays of light, all create moments that hold truths larger than they seem. In this latest tale, the line between reflection and revelation begins to blur, and choices linger just beyond reach. This story explores those moments where hesitation and possibility walk side by side.

It offers a glimpse into the spaces where choice and uncertainty intertwine, where light reveals more than shadows try to hide.

The mist clung to the grass as Lucas and Elouise sauntered through the rising sunlight, their steps softened by the clinging dew.

Lucas paused and pulled her to face him before running a finger along her cheek. “You could anchor ghosts yourself.”

“Me? You can’t be serious.” A skittish laugh filled the field as she turned her gaze away from him while tucking a loose strand of hair behind her ear.

He eased her face with his finger, bringing her eyes to his. However, Lucas’s focus was on the air beyond Elouise’s shoulder. Rosa, one of his guests, floated there, her outline trembling in the light.
