Slick Hall

Sebastian stood beside the front door,
“With that our friends will slide right in.”
Jimmy popped out, then inspected the floor,
Then he grabbed some oil and poured out more.
“I'll make sure they can glide and spin.”
Sebastian hurried forward past the coat rack,
His foot struck oil and launched him through the air.
He dropped and slid down the hardwood on his back,
He crashed through boxes and toppled the stack.
While Jimmy whooped, “I knew you’d slide in there!”
Sebastian rose and groaned, “Clear out the hallway.
We can’t have guests afraid of where they tread.”
Jimmy stacked up cushions, "I'm certain these will stay.
That should stop our guests at the end of their way.
A little padding should protect each head.”
The doorbell rang, and Jimmy bounced in place.
He waved their friend inside with a welcoming shout.
Their friend struck the oil and sailed across the space.
Jimmy cried, “See? They even landed with grace!”
Sebastian groaned, “Next time, leave the oil out.”
