Hidden Welcome

As January drew to a close, I shifted my attention to the pair of micro tales I intended to write for February. While I’d already identified the character and genre, I hadn’t thought about a potential storyline. Okay, that’s not entirely true, considering I knew this would feature Tiatha. When you factor in the fact I already removed Tiatha from the Academy and put her back on course to reunite with the shifters of Morven, it didn’t take long for me to craft the rough storyline. From there, the narrative flowed through my fingers as I witnessed the interaction between my sorceress and the sentinel of the feline shifter tribe.

Hidden Welcome

Tiatha paused between a pair of trees as her lips curled into an uneven smile. Her gaze flicked to her right, isolating the animal stalking her. She laid her fingertips against the gem clinging to her neck as she traced a series of runes onto her thigh. “It’s unwise to stalk me shifter.”

In response, the creature emerged from the shadows as a growl washed over the solitary woman.

“This is preposterous, Arava. Don’t you recognize me?”

As the feline’s body stopped, its head tilted to the left. A second later, its spotted body convulsed as it became human. He quickly rushed forward and studied Tiatha’s face. “Didn’t you proclaim a desire to never return?”
