Beginnings

Unfortunately, it has been a long while since I last visited the world I established in Transformation. That said, I’d left myself enough notes that I was able to jump right in and come up craft a satisfying ending to this series. However, because I’m one to triple check everything, I hoped into my notebook and skimmed through the last handful of entries in this series. And after skimming/reading those tales, I updated my initial thoughts to bring the story home. Will Issac continue to be blinded by his ambition? Or will he recognize the implications of Jasmine’s decisions?

Beginnings

Jasmine leaned against the open door leading into the cockpit and stared at the pilot as his fingers flew across his console. With her lips curling into a broad smile, she folded her arms across her chest. She stood there like a statue as an oblivious Issac continued working through the pre-launch checklist. With each twitch of his fingers, he added another note to the symphony of the din serenading her.

As Issac’s fingers slowed to a crawl, Jasmine pushed off the wall and slipped into her chair. “Are you still going through that checklist?”

“The answer to that question is yes.” Issac rubbed his neck as he glanced at Jasmine. “However, there are many things I’d rather be doing.”

“If that’s true,” Jasmine’s gaze whipped about the cockpit as she raised her palms toward the ceiling, “why are you still here?”

With a groan, Issac punched the console. “Only fools who’ve never flown would insist on this asinine array of safety checks.” Issac laid the tablet beside his controls before rubbing the corner of his eyes with his fingertips, while releasing his captive breath. He folded his hands as they fell to his lap. “Unfortunately, the over regulating pencil pushers are within aggravation distance, which means if we don’t perform every step perfectly, they’ll simply scrub the mission.”

Jasmine sauntered across the room and squeezed Issac’s shoulder as she leaned down, positioning her lips beside his ear. “It can’t be as dire as you’re making it seem.”
