With yet another fresh start, I’ve mostly followed my schedule, and that’s only because the first Patreon exclusive was delayed by a couple of days. While I still have a long way to go to juggle all the things I’m trying to keep afloat, this early success gives me hope that I’ll be able to get there provided I improve a little each day. However, with that said, let us turn to the topic at hand, the Drama for my patrons. Thankfully, it didn’t take me long to come up with an outline for this tale. A few months ago, I published Securing Secrets for my patrons, and I was excited to wrap up some of the loose threads dangling at the end of the previous tale.

After selecting the characters for this tale, I rolled up my sleeves and started crafting the first draft. As I stared at the blank document, the scene unfurled before me, and I focused on the interaction between the crew of the Drifter II and the clients who had hired them to transport the cargo. Thankfully, their flight through space was uneventful as they navigated around the known outposts of the authorities. After docking, Charles and Lucille, the local authorities allowed them to board the station since they had business to conduct. When they arrived at the establishment the clients chose, Lucille’s doubts concerning their delivery resurfaced.

Find a comfortable chair and join me as we explore the meeting between the captain of the Drifter II and his most recent clients.

Mysterious cargo in hand, the Drifter II avoided detection as it navigated through heavily patrolled space. Once aboard the station, Charles and Lucille head for their meeting with the clients, despite her trepidation over the secret cargo…

“I can’t believe we’re doing this,” Lucille said, yanking Charles’s burdened arm as she peered into the chosen establishment. She backed away from the entrance, covering her nose as if some foul scent had assaulted her. “Accepting this location is the same level of stupidity as agreeing to keep their secret.”

With a tired grin, Charles peeled her hand off before patting her cheek. “You can always return to the Drifter. I’m sure the rest of the crew, specifically Selina, would love your company.”

Lucille’s mouth curled into a sulky scowl as she folded her arms across her chest. “That’s only because this station isn’t hospitable to visitors.”

Charles lifted the metallic case, positioning it between them as his fingers began drumming an irregular beat. “When clients are eager to overpay, they’re allowed to be demanding.”

“Or they’re desperate,” Lucille said, taking another step away from the opening.

A sigh tumbled out of Charles’s mouth as he lowered the metal case. “The first half could purchase a new heavy cruiser, laden with top-of-the-line systems.”
