With Buried Treasure and Treatments finished, I turned my attention to the next installment in Solomon’s journey. With this horror story, I wanted to drop my hunter back into his battle with the vampire that came within inches of killing him in Scant Inch. When you factor in the treatment Solomon underwent post Treatments, this rematch should have a different outcome. However, the vampire is ancient, which means he’s powerful. Despite the aftereffects of Solomon’s treatment, will the chasm between the hunter and the vampire still be too vast?
In Treatments, I expanded Solomon’s support team, but here I’m increasing his allies who will go hunting with him. Despite my hunter’s willingness to accept help from those willing to offer it, he’s still the stereotypical lone wolf. However, due to his chosen treatment, his support team, led by his doctor, demanded he take on extra help. Not only to safeguard him from his target but also to ensure there’s no side-effects to his treatment.

Fresh after his recovery, Solomon equips himself to hunt down the vampire that came within an inch of killing him. Is this hubris on Solomon’s behalf…
“I’m unsure about the wisdom of this plan.”
Solomon peered past a tree as he dragged his thumb across his lips. A second later, he glanced over his shoulder and studied the dense shadows peeking through the foliage behind him as he touched his earpiece. “Darren, we’re hunting a vampire, and this is the beast’s hunting ground.”
“Doesn’t mean it’s smart, since you’re the only one sporting Sandra’s gene therapy.”
With a groan, Samuel pulled back his rifle’s bolt, confirming a round’s presence before reactivating his comm. “Given the lack of a fully vetted human trial, I wouldn’t recommend the prerequisite you’d need to qualify for it, Cedric. However, we all got some extra goodies that should help level the playing field.”
“Armor isn’t perfect,” Cedric said. “I’d prefer the ability to heal almost instantly.”
“It’s not as terrible as you’re assuming,” Darren said. “Though I’d agree, having layered protections like Solomon would be the ideal situation for any of us.”
