Toward the end of October back in 2023, I was on a trip to Mathews, Virginia with for a much needed getaway. However, instead of booking a hotel, I secured an Airbnb. For those who haven’t used this service yet, I highly recommend using it whenever you’re planning a trip. Once settled into the house, I grabbed my camera and started taking some pictures of the surrounding landscapes. If you see any images here that aren’t available on Natural Desygns or SM Desygns reach out to me through the Etsy store and I’ll add the image to the correct store. In the meantime, click any of the images to head over to DeviantArt to get a better look.
The first sight I immortalized was a tree dominating a stretch of the neighboring lot. While it had already released a portion of its colorful leaves, which adorned the ground, several branches were relentlessly keeping a firm grasp of their color.
And to compliment the vibrant leave clinging to life, there is a trio of evergreens, providing a pop of the promised spring renewal. Despite this being the first of many photos to come, there’s something about this tree that smothers me in peace and amplifies my serenity.
Sometimes the only thing you have to do to get a brand new outlook on the same sight is to look at it from a different angle. Think about a cut and polished gemstone. No matter how familiar you are with the stone, every time you shift it, light will strike it in a different way, revealing new depths to its beauty.
As I stood before that partially bare tree, I altered the position of my camera and captured another image. While I focused on the tree and gained more definition of its branches, I lost the background and most of the evergreens. However, the gained clarity amplified the tree’s beauty, despite highlighting more of the lost foliage.
