Shadow Within

After a conversation with Gilras about the mysterious shifters, Jarvis sends dispatches a small unit of his people along with a contingent of highly skilled dwarven warriors to explore the ruins of the original settlement to search for the tonic that will allow them to face such a foe. Once they arrive at the ruins, they split up into pairs, with each pair striving to locate the formula. Among the ancient wreckage of a once-mighty colonization ship, Fenton and the gruff warrior Ferrek uncover more than just data.

What new dangers will this world bring to wipe away the invading human settlement? What begins as a mission to recover old knowledge quickly becomes a test of trust, as hidden dangers turn allies into potential threats.

In a place where even your closest companion can become your enemy, survival demands more than strength. It requires clarity, quick thinking, and a little luck. What if the person beside you wasn’t who they claimed to be?

Shadow Within

Ferrek kicked the metal wall. “No way this contraption kept anyone alive.”

A wry laugh escaped Fenton as he looked from his terminal. A slow smirk crossed his lips as he laced his hands behind his head. “As it stands, you’re right. This ship was cannibalized to construct the walls. Add in the deterioration from a century of erosion, of course it won’t fly.”

“How’s it possible that this structure,” Ferrek said, highlighting the decaying walls, “once transported people from another planet?”

He nodded and dropped his gaze back to the computer. When the screen flickered, Fenton whacked the terminal, cursing. He eased back, dropping his head into his hands. “While the secondary systems are failing, the crystals appear to hold the data”

“Can you retrieve what Jarvis wanted?”

Fenton shrugged. “I’m hopeful.”

“What’s taking so long?”

As the screen went black, Fenton cursed. “I’ll have to find another terminal.
