Caged Tales

After pulling the results of the genre poll, I was pleased to discover a comedy in the results. With this genre topping my list, I immediately rolled my story cubes to determine the story for my comedic duo, Sebastian & Jimmy. After the roll, I poked through the dice and selected the watch, a glove, and a birdcage. With the seed set, it didn’t take me long to come up with the location. Just because these ordinary objects are commonplace doesn’t mean they’re incapable of being a wonderful backdrop for Jimmy. There’s something special about a quiet room, especially when this duo gets started. While exploring a house for things they’d like to buy, they peek inside a small room, allowing them to slip into a familiar rhythm of curiosity and chaos.

The room didn’t contain much, just a desk, a lamp, a chair, an empty birdcage, and the scent of history clinging to the air like dust on forgotten books. But for Jimmy, even the most ordinary objects are simply the beginning of something grand. After all, this wasn’t just a stranger’s home, it was an open house, and that meant everything was fair game, provided it wasn’t labeled “mystery.”

Of course, Jimmy had other ideas. No matter how ordinary the things he finds, one thing was certain. Nobody invited logic to the party. What follows is nothing but pure mayhem, designed by Jimmy. Their banter, as sharp as ever, turns a simple exploration into something hilariously absurd, and possibly profound. Grab a seat and join me for a wonderful laugh.

After receiving an invitation to explore an open house for anything they want to buy, Sebastian & Jimmy find a room with a treasure trove…

Caged Tales

Jimmy grabbed his friend’s arm and pulled him from the doorframe. “Isn’t it wrong to invade someone’s home and explore every room?”

“We’re not out of line.” Sebastian batted Jimmy’s hand away. He scanned the hallway, then leaned in, wrapping an arm around his friend. “It’s an open house.”

“We shouldn’t snoop inside someone’s home just because it’s open.” Jimmy closed the door and stepped in front of it. “Would you appreciate a stranger poking around your place?”

“How does browsing become a problem for you?”

“This is somebody’s home!”

Sebastian gripped Jimmy’s shoulders and moved him aside. “While the owner isn’t selling his house, he’s letting strangers like us—” Sebastian’s thumb bounced between him and Jimmy, “—look for things we want.”

“Wait!” Jimmy shoved his hand against the door and nudged Sebastian. “We’re here to buy his stuff?”

“Why else would we be here?”

Jimmy stepped back, releasing the door. “That’s a good point.”

“Can we continue perusing?”

“I guess we can,” Jimmy said, ushering him inside.
