Perfect Pair

Two friends sat trading headlines in their living room,
When Sebastian paused and spoke with a measured tone.
“I think they’d make a delightful pair. I'd ship them soon.”
At once Jimmy's eyes twitched, exploding with nautical bloom,
As briny oceans demanded he claim a cardboard throne.
He sprang upright and raided the boxes by the stair.
Then he tore through tape with fevered delight;
“We need a vessel that'll take us any and everywhere!”
Sebastian crouched as splintered debris consumed the air,
And couch-bound pillows launched in reckless flight.
The coffee table groaned beneath the strain.
A broomstick mast stood crooked, wrapped in twine.
Jimmy christened it with soda instead of champagne,
Then he shoved it hard, and it listed toward the grain.
"Excellent!" He reached out blessing his tilting design.
“I meant,” said Sebastian shaking his head, voice dry.
“A simple hope their hearts would intertwine.”
But Jimmy's chest swelled, “No tempest strikes the sky!”
He tripped on rope and crashed into the couch nearby.
He struck the bow and laughed, "It tilts by design."
