I hope everyone has had a Merry Christmas, and I wish everybody a Happy New Year. As I sat with family on Christmas Eve, we all took turns opening our presents. While I’m thankful for each present I received, there were two that I’m hoping will help me further my writing skills. The first is a journal entitled Write The Story. Normally, I take these genres in alphabetical order, but this time because of the nature of the stories, it makes more sense to bring the true ghost story first...

Despite November having five weeks (specifically five Wednesdays), given the mix of NaNoWriMo, Patreon, and my other projects, I couldn’t squeeze in the fifth entry. That said, my last entry for the month is a comedy. While I will try my hand at comedy for my patrons, there is a single reason I’m willing to take on comedies for those who buy me a croissant. The extremely limited word count of micro fiction helps me focus on the comedy. With my Thanksgiving turkey brining away, I need to take a step back and breathe deeply. NaNoWriMo is a wonderful challenge. Every year, I have to really focus to meet the goal, 50,000 words and my everyday work. Unfortunately, this year was complicated with a technical issue. Right as I was writing this story, my computer crapped out. While it didn’t technically die, rather it started to run at the pace of a marching glacier. With my background in IT, I spent some time trying to figure out what was sapping the system’s power and efficiency. To make a long story short, I eventually figured out what was wrecking my system. Unfortunately, by the time I isolated the problem, I had already rebuilt the computer a few times. So, while I’m still rounding out all the software and settings, I’m able to get my work done...

After the momentary visit of the Academy, I’ve turned my attention back to my newest bunch of characters, Charles and Lucille. After receiving confirmation of his father’s fate, Charles has been forced to join the station’s population of vagrants. With each revolution around the harsh planet, Charles is forced to flee to the outskirts of the station...

With two pieces of micro-fiction done, I turned my attention to another group of characters, Ramona and Aiden. The last time I peeked into their lives, Aiden had just gotten closure from his botched duel with his classmate. Post that vindication, Aiden kept one eye on his development as a mage and the other eye on his budding relationship with Ramona. While Ko-fi’s scheduler allowed me to publish the latest piece of micro-fiction, I could not complete the publication process because of a bug that ran through my family. However, now that I’m mostly recovered, I’m getting back on track and completing the process...

Immediately upon pulling the result poll, my mind bounced between potential topics, searching for potential storylines. After a couple of days, I narrowed the fledgling thoughts to the singular seed for October’s Action/Adventure tale. This story will highlight one of Charles and Lucile’s first jobs.
